SUE Association’s John Byrd Meets with PHMSA PIPES Act Information-Sharing Working Group

John “JB” Byrd, federal lobbyist for the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Association, attended a November 8-9 meeting of the Voluntary Information-Sharing System Working Group held at the U.S. Department of Transportation headquarters in Washington, DC. This working group, a Federal Advisory Committee, was authorized by the PIPES Act, Public Law 114-183. This is thee first public meeting at which the SUE Association has attended and announcing the formation and presence of the association to key stakeholders in the pipeline safety community, as well as the association’s support for American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s National Consensus Standard, ASCE C-I 38-02, Standard Guidelines for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data.  The meeting was attended by several members of the PHMSA staff, as well as the working group, chaired by Diane Burman, a Commissioner of the New York State Public Service Commission.
