About the event
Description
Pipe Casings: Some underground pipelines are required to have cathodic protection to protect them from corrosion. When a cased crossing is electrically shorted, it will contribute to the corrosion of the carrier pipe within the cased crossing. Cased crossings may also shield cathodic protection current to the carrier pipe and may impact the effectiveness of cathodic current on the pipe in the vicinity of the cased crossing, potentially adversely affecting the integrity of the carrier pipe.
